The Devil believes that God exists. The Devil believes that Jesus exists. The Devil believes that Jesus can do everything He says He can do. That’s where the faith of a lot of people stops, which means they don’t believe any more than the Devil does.

The devil and the tyrants of the earth, of course, are thrilled for Jesus to be just a “great moral teacher” whose demands we can meet by our good behavior. That sort of Jesus is no danger to hell because he doesn’t exist, never did.

Wealth becomes demonic in direct proportion to the distance it travels from Jesus.

The devil is very happy for people to be as wealthy, powerful, and smart as they want to be. He doesn’t know any of their names. He doesn’t have to. They are no danger to him. If the devil knows who you are, that can only be because Jesus is alive in you, because you have invited Him, because you have received Him in His fullness at every Mass.

Though Satan is fallen with respect to his will, he is not fallen with respect to his power. He is still an archangel.

It is unfortunate that Churches speak little of the Devil. But he is smart and powerful and we should take him as seriously as Jesus did.

The enemy is sin and death, and they are ready to play the very long game.

The desert shows us the weapons we need to fight the good fight, and win the good fight, if only we will trust the weapons at hand.

He is giving people heaven. That’s what He keeps talking about: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”
