God is totally committed, pouring Himself into us all, offering us His own life, everything that makes Him who He is, at every Mass, everywhere, every day, pleading and hoping that we will all choose and receive Him.

In what kind of story does our moral sense make sense? For Job (as for all of us, if we are going to be honest with ourselves) it is the story that has God as its author, and heaven as its objective.

God wanted a relationship with Job, as He wants a relationship with us all. We are persons, not furniture, so He left Job free – and vulnerable.
