Reading, by its very nature, therefore, transports us to a place that “eye hath not seen and ear hath not heard,” a place where technology is no help to find our way. That’s just the kind of place where all meaning lives.

Many don’t read slowly, many more don’t read at all. And because we don’t take the time to think in order to speak, or read, or write, the words that come out are often full of snark, slash, and spite.
