On Judgment Day we will all stand before the Throne of Grace, and only the very foolish will dare to utter the word “I.” I believed, I followed, I trusted, I loved. Anything that starts with “I” is something we have held back for ourselves rather than let ourselves be filled with Him.

Maybe it is because we are not supposed to get worked up about tombs. There is only one tomb that Christians should really care about, and that one is empty.

We need to live our lives in such a way that people ask questions, and then we have to give them answers. That is what repentance looks like for us now. Because repentance is a kind of levelling up.

The Christian culture of medieval Europe created the university system, which in turn gave rise to modern science and modern medicine, which in turn, by our time, has given rise to astonishing acts of healing every day in far greater numbers than Chorazin, Bethsaida or Capernaum ever saw. You could say that in hospitals all over the world millions of mighty acts of God are hiding in plain sight.

The Church of Jesus Christ is your only hope if you don’t want to make peace with mendacity, but it is a demanding sort of hope.

Those sins congealed into habits, and it was the habits that drove the Prodigal to a far country, and ultimately to being a swineherd.

Mercy and forgiveness have always been available. All we need to do is claim them. Repentance is how we say "yes".

The problem wasn’t that Jesus had not revealed Himself; it was that people didn’t want Him. They wanted somebody who offered worldly things.

The words Jesus speaks, every one, come straight from the Lord and Creator of the universe, the One who is Being itself. God is the judge.

Imagine what they might do if you loved them just a little. Are you listening?

Saints are humble because they all remember how much help their holiness took. 

The return to the Lord was going to sting. Many will have to fall down and even if they get up many won't be happy.
