The Bible’s promise is that all those who continue to ask questions will receive answers. Some already have. Some are still asking, and have not received answers yet, but if they keep asking they will. No one who fails to ask, or who stops asking, will receive answers.

There are those who believe that Jesus never claimed to be God. While it is true that Jesus never in the gospels used the formula, “I am God,” there are dozens of other texts that establish Jesus’ claims to divinity.

If any were to create a Christian and biblical portrait of Truth Seeking, they could do no better than a picture of a group of women and men in a room, with flames upon the head of each one, flames that burned, but did not injure or consume.

Within a single lifetime after the Resurrection the Gospel of Jesus Christ was circulating in the two largest world languages of the ancient Mediterranean world and that Jesus Christ is the most well-attested historical figure from the entire ancient world – more than Homer, Plato, Aristotle or Caesar.

The first and most urgent task for every Christian is to reflect constantly on the person and work of Jesus – Jesus in the Bible, Jesus in the sacraments, Jesus in the liturgy, Jesus in prayer. All day, every day, Jesus.

Depravity prospers in all places where there is a conspiracy to keep the quiet part quiet.

When the chips are down nobody yearns for someone, some church that is merely “nice.” We want true believers in all their oddness.

Is someone who says he has an alternative to a time-tested moral truth, something that is easy & will yield better results than the old way.

It isn’t God who throws useless lives into the flames – people are more than happy to do that. God certainly recognizes when a life is dry.

Some things are so hard to do that it takes three generations to make people strong enough to do them.

Jesus made it pretty clear that the gospel was for everyone including the Gentiles.

No sentient adult today with a straight face can say that we are more intelligent, more just, more peaceful, more joyful now than before.
