25 September 2026  Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

“…without man’s ever discovering, from beginning to end, the work which God has done.”  (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

A time to be born and a time to die.

A time to plant and a time to uproot.

A time to kill and a time to heal.

-- Ho Hum. Yes, yes, what goes   around comes around. Heard it

a million times.

A time to speak the universe into being. A time when all time, space, and matter explodes into existence with a word.

Does He have your attention yet?

Does He have your attention now?

A time when a very old husband and a very old wife create a child the old fashioned way, whose descendants are as numerous as the stars.

A time when a Hebrew son, kidnapped by his brothers, becomes  an Egyptian Prime Minister, and the people are saved.

A time when a Hebrew baby becomes an Egyptian prince and the people are saved again.

            -- Wait, what?

A time when the sea parts, and the Hebrews escape, and pursuing Egyptians are swallowed up.

A time when God walks with His people in a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night.

-- Wait, slow down and say that again.

A time when God takes on human flesh to get as close to people as possible.

A time when people are healed, and demons are cast out with a simple “Be gone!”

A time when, despite all that, the people decide to murder God, and do, and it doesn’t work, and death is broken, and the people are saved again.

A time when God feeds people with His own life, every day, when heaven touches earth every day, and death is broken in the people, too.

-- Good grief! There is all that? Is there more?

A time when God decides to make His permanent home with the people.

A time when the yawns of the proud have been stopped by thousands of saints that we know, and thousands more that we don’t know, at least not yet.

A time when people congratulate themselves that they are clever enough to examine the tiniest imaginable places, and find information already there, encoded information, that somebody else put there, that He put there when He spoke the universe into being.

A time when a careless story told by careless people about “what goes around comes around” is interrupted again and again by a patient, passionate, persistent God, who is outraged by people making His story boring, and loves them with an outrageous love just to get their attention.

He is interrupting again.

Does He have your attention yet?

Does He have your attention now?
